Peohe's on Coronado

Monday was a holiday, and I took advantage of the sunshine and being free in mid-afternoon to hit Peohe's on the Coronado bayfront for their delicious happy hour.

We walked through the restuarant, veered to the left, exited to the patio, and grabbed one of many seats available looking across the bay towards downtown San Diego.

We each ordered mimosas ($6 each), mango for me and pomegranate for Rachel. I preferred the mango, but the mint taste was more distinct in the pomegranate.

I jumped at a chance to order the Coconut Crunchy Shrimp ($6). I was a bit disappointed to see only 4 large shrimp on the platter as it came out, but they were delicious, especially with the sweet tangy plum sauce on the side.

Rachel had been indecisive all afternoon about ordering her favorite, the Maui-style Onion Rings, so I decided for her and ordered them. Coconut battered, fried onions coming right after other coconut-battered, fried shrimp was a bit too much for me, but Rachel enjoyed the onion rings.

Rachel also recommended the steamed artichoke, but neither of us had the appetite. Something to try next time!

Overall, food was nice, drinks were lovely, price - meh, and the view was fabulous. Go on a warm, sunny day, sip a mimosa, and watch the ships sail by.

Food and drinks were mostly in the $4-6 range. The Menu
